Frequently Asked Questions

How does Foreman Mode work?
When you log into the Lumber app as a foreman, you can clock yourself in and manage your entire crew's time from your mobile phone or tablet. Using a worker PIN, you can clock individual crew members in or out, assign them to projects and tasks, and view all timecards in one place.
Does the foreman need to clock in separately from the crew?
Yes. Foremen clock themselves in first using the front camera for photo verification, then manage crew clock-ins individually using each worker's unique PIN.
What is PIN-based clock-in?
Each worker is assigned a unique PIN. The foreman enters a worker's PIN on their device, selects the project and task, and clocks them in. Lumber instantly identifies the worker based on the PIN entered.
Can project assignments be changed mid-shift?
Yes. If a worker switches tasks or moves to a different project during the day, the foreman can update their project and task assignment without clocking them out—so every hour is always attributed to the right job.
What happens if I need to update multiple timecards at once?
Foreman Mode supports bulk timecard editing. Select multiple crew members, modify the necessary fields, and save—all timecards update instantly in one action.
Is photo verification required?
Photo verification is optional and can be enabled or disabled based on your company's settings. When enabled, the foreman uses the front camera for their own clock-in and the back camera to capture crew member photos.
Can I track productivity alongside time?
Yes. When productivity tracking is enabled, foremen can log the quantity of work completed for the day at clock-out, along with any additional notes.
Can I add notes to timecards?
Yes. Notes can be added at clock-in or clock-out for any crew member, giving payroll and project teams additional context on each entry.
Where can I view all crew timecards?
All timecards—yours and your entire crew's—are visible in a single unified dashboard. You can review, verify, and edit entries at any time.
Does Foreman Mode work without internet connectivity?
Yes. Lumber's offline mode allows time to be captured without an internet connection. Data syncs automatically once connectivity is restored.
